I think he has Paea out of the first round due to injury.

-on the QB note, queens want a vet is the rumor. Mallett marginal 1st Rd IMO
A couple of weeks ago, Leslie Frazier may have tipped his hand when he told the media that he was interested in finding the next Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco this offseason. With a plethora of mediocre quarterbacks available here, Minnesota could take one of them.
quote:Paea just hurt his knee thats why I have him dropping to the 2nd round.
Paea and TE Rudolph might be the best that miss this 1st Rd. Rudolph would be a perfect value and Gonzalez replacement in atl. Allen Bailey I have as a dropper but that's dropping from mid 1st and possibly still making the rd.
This is just my first draft of my mock draft. It could change getting closer to the actual draft. This is just how I see it now.

Paea MCL isn't serious evne though knifed, still in the sprain category. Possibly back for the combine and almost fo sho on his pro day. It can't help his stock. I think it is more the consideration of multiple injuries rather than what that one is. Even considering all that I'd still rank him as the top pure DT. @nd possible but not far if at all.
Who knows with the queens? Teams that had a bad year but still have a decent nucleus to contend more often tend to go veteran than rookie project to me. Rebuilding franchises more towards young guys.
As said, some real wildcards with this particular QB class and the large number of vets potentially on the market.
I haven't got enough market feel for Mallett. My personal take that he is injury prone with diva tendencies might cloud my view. In fact I'd go so far to say he reminds me more of Ryan Leaf than anybody since RL.
Good job, I'll have to work on one after our player news shrivels up to nothing soon.

Another thing I hear about Mallett is he is really stupid. May score way low on the wonderlic, which will change his draft stock. but like I said its just my right now mock it may change when we get closer.
You should make one.

-I think I was the first one around here pumping him. He's a young and a deluxe pass rusher with high upside. The only thing is I'm not sure how well he fits in our 4-3. GW has said he'll make any positional talent fit. Similar to Justin Houston with a bit more hand on the ground potential. Of names that would be available in yours I might put DT Paea (my top DT) more likely. A darkhorse in that scenario also might be LB Martez Wilson.
I think he would fit in great actually,he's a freak of nature. He has drawn comparisons to Jason Pierre-Paul in terms of raw athleticism and I think he's more of a 4-3 guy than he is 3-4 guy. I think in his first year he would be a contributor right off the bat using him in a Bobby McCray type role, bringing him in on passing downs.
The thing with him is we could use him as a OLB or a DE where ever he ends up being better suited, which means his versatility alone makes him the perfect pick for us.

Wilkerson doesn't make it past the Patriots 2nd first round pick.

yo J, as our resident Pats expert what's yer thoughts on their first one? Ingram if available? OL? Pass rusher?
Posted on 2/2/11 at 10:25 pm to Meateye
Looks good to me.
I do think Mallet will be the best QB taken when it is all said and done. He has tremendous touch and with the right coach could excellent if he puts in the time and stays focused.
I have said it before on the other board that Mallet showed more touch than Peyton did at the same age and experience level.

I almost promise either a OL, DE, or Ryan Kerrigan. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they use that pick on Wilkerson out of Temple because I suspect he is going to fly up the draft boards. Personally, this might be the year they trade up, and they might grab Quinn.

A quality DE will really help out our pass rush. The guys we were putting at RDE were just getting blown off the ball, and in the Patriots 34, they gotta eat those blocks up. The real problem with the Patriots system is they want guys who can cover as well as rush at the OLB position (think Mike Vrabel) and we can't get away with Lamar Woodley types that make the Steelers 34 look so good. The real question with Kerrigan is going to be if he can drop into coverage, because he looks good rushing the passer and setting the edge.

Kerrigan and Jordan are both great players. The reason I had yall picking Jordan instead of Kerrigan is I think he fits yall a little better.
Posted on 2/2/11 at 11:36 pm to Meateye
Completely understand. Its a quality mock draft. I honestly see Wilkerson becoming that "hot commodity" after the workouts and such. He's the perfect 34 DE, he eats blocks, makes enough plays to be scary (and open up pass rushing lanes for OLBs), and can hold his own at the point of attack.

If any team has the draft coinage to move up it's them. With anticipated large downsizing of rookie salaries we could see the attraction of moving becoming popular again too.
Justin Houston looks like a nice pass rush specialist @ #33. Heyward looks like a great 3-4 DE @ 28 or 33.
Ya go 0% or how much on Ingram at #17 if was there?

I would be pleased if we got Jordan. He projects as a DE for us though, where Kerrigan would be a OLB.

Yep. BB doesn't like taking RBs high (and Maroney fizzled out) plus the Law Firm went over 1k yards and he was 5th on the depth chart when the year began. I know he was an undrafted free agent, but in the later games, he started showing some down the field moves.

A bunch of us Patriots fans are excited about this. We literally have like 4 or 5 roster spots open, and we have tons of starting depth. I think a RDE, OLB, OT, OG and we are in another dynasty type period. Hell, the Pats had the best record in the league and our defense was almost entirely first year starters.

Heyward's stock is going to fall because of his injury, though I do like him as a Richard Seymour lite kinda guy. Houston does look nice, but it needs to be seen if he can "set the edge".
