I'll tell you one thing...

When you have a franchise QB, you lock him up long term.

I guess Jaws putting him in the top 5 helped his case.........

Because winning meaningful games isn't.

The "Failcons" are actually great on salary cap space, even with this deal.

IDK why he is negotiating pre season. If they win the superbowl he will feel pretty dumb.

How much is enough? Is 59 million to never work a day in your life not enough? If he went out tomorrow and lost his career, he's a multimillionaire.

These aren't normal people in normal situations. I could live quite comfortably forever off of Drew' Brees' first contract. the 100 Mill he mad over 10 years.

Like everyone they want to make as much as they can.

This guy is leaving several million on the table if he wins a superbowl. I mean he wont, but still.

They essentially got a FastPass to their couches, redeemable only in January.

Saints will make it further than the Falcons this year.

No way to tell yet. I'd need to see 1-3 games with that new D that NO will run. The Saints have had a good/great Offense lately and assuming that stays the same - it solely falls on the shoulders of the D. People keep saying around me "it can't get any worse!". That's simply not true. You could re-break the historically bad D record, again. Odds are against it - but odds are also against that O being as good as it has been the last 3 years.

Possibly. Or they could be watching them from home in the playoffs again. Neither of us know for certain.

The Saints offense has been amongst the best in the league since 06. If people haven't figured out how to stop it yet; I doubt they ever will as long as Payton and Brees are here. I think that time away really may help Payton. He will probably be more motivated and more creative than he's ever been. He has the ability to call plays that keeps the clock ticking, moves the chains and keeps the defense off the field.

The problem, the question mark, is all on that defense. I think they will be improved, which shouldn't be hard, but they need to at least be OK.

Payton alone gives this team another 2-3 wins, if a solid defense comes about they are fighting for the top seed. The second part is just a huge if.

Sure. Cause if the Falcons don't AT LEAST make the NFC Championship game (barring some injury to a major player), this season will be a failure in my book and I'll begin to have serious doubts about the future of the Falcons.
