This man doesn't lie. I took Butler out to the North Shore to show him some good neighborhoods earlier this morning. Dinner at Commanders tonight followed by a few night caps at Bourbon Heat

The Pats, Saints, and Butler have leverage in this. Sure the Pats can try to ship him to Houston, but would Houston give up a 2nd if Butler won't sign long term? I don't think they would. So if butler really wants to play here, it could happen with a second or even a third. The Saints have no reason to use a 1st when from what we know, no one is offering higher than Houstons 2nd.

You're crazy if you believe that. He's a proven #1 corner. Anyone you draft is a gamble.

I'm not trying to offend you, but I just went back and watched alot of film on Malcolm Butler. He's literally everything you want in a shutdown corner. Good in run support, good technique, plays the sideline well, never stops fighting for balls even when it looks like the receiver has a catch(actually broke up touchdowns by staying with the ball after the receiver caught the ball), gets his head tuned around, great ball skills, attitude....

And the real ticket is he's young and getting better

Bellichick's buddy willing to trade a 2nd for Butler

not buying it

not even believable as a bluff because they need to trade those 1st and 2nd picks just to start negotiations on trading for a QB

CB isn't even on their radar, they have no QB, that isn't their only need but its their ONLY need right now

Houston would be better served signed one of the pretty decent corners in FA and using assets on a QB.

A buddy of mine works for WWL and has to me that the word around saints hq is the saints WILL NOT give up a 1st or 2nd round pick.... TIFWIW, he's doesn't tell much when he hears something but when he does he's spot on
Odd that that the hosts are consistently saying it will take #32 to get him. I highly doubt we will get him without giving up a #1 or #2.

Yeah, Deke and Bobby are generally clueless (they said a few weeks back that it would take like 10 million per year to sign DJ Fluker).

But if the "word around WWL" was that we wouldn't give up a 1 or 2, they would probably talk about it on air, instead of discussing whether we are giving up 32 or 42. Not that the word around WWL would mean anything.

I'm operating under the assumption that we give up 32. Anything else and its all gravy.

Why the change from two days ago?

Did I mention anything about liking it?

I'm just facing reality. If we give up less I'll be happy, if we give up 32 it will be what I already expect. You can't dwell on shite that you don't agree with. Just accept it as reality and go one with your life.

Yup. I dislike it but I'd rather have Butler than 32. Low chance a rookie corner even starts for us. Butler is immediately the number one.

Calm down, guy. It was a serious question.

The discussion we had two days ago wasn't whether or not we liked it. It was about what we thought would actually happen, and you said:

quote:

We aren't giving up 32. 32 is actually an extremely valuable pick because of the 5th year option. Not happening. We MIGHT give up 42, but I'm not even sure that's the case.
quote:

Couple that with the 32nd pick being pretty valuable to most teams considering the 5th year option, and it is a really tradable pick draft day for multiple picks for teams looking for a QB that slides to the end of the round. I just don't see it. I see a 2nd at best

The point of my question was to inquire if you found out something within the last 48 hours that the rest of us didn't know.

bountyhunter who has been right in the past said we are giving up 32 and then quickly deleted it. I assume not wanting to frick his source.

I'm just rolling with it. I was wrong. We are giving up 32. The more I look at it the more this all looks like a shell game between Bill and Sean.

It is what it is. Our Defense will be better.

Sounds good. I saw you mention something in another thread about a poster here claiming 32, so I was curious about that.

Of course I'd rather the 2nd, but I am good with 32. We still have our 1st and 2nd, and are getting a very talented player at a huge position of need. If we can manage decent production out of the DE spot between Okafor, Kikaha and the draft pick, then we should easily be back in the playoff this year.
