IMO taking Gurley makes a bit of sense. He can return kicks (a major weakness for us), and he fills the soon to be void at RB. Ingram will leave (and probably get a lucrative contract with a shitty team with a ton of cap space and win 12 games total for the rest of his 8 year career), PT is old and probably close to done. We all love Khiry, but we need another guy. Gurley could do it. I know we need a CB but this team sucks at drafting defensive players anyway

So much truth here.

As nice as this sounds we need an athletic ILB and a good OG. I think Gordon will kill it in the NFL though.

Why? So we can draft another bust at CB or S that will blow up when they go elsewhere?

There's no "IF" about it. He's gone.

That said, no way the Saints should draft a top back. Given how the Saints use their backs, a feature back is just a waste of money. Payton will never utilize backs in a way that makes it a good investment to draft a back high. Just get a bunch of good backs and rotate them -- like he's doing now. Save the money for defense and line.

The Saints should draft a RB with 1st round talent in later rounds.

That way, we get a really talented RB at good value; and we don't need to spend a high draft pick on a RB.
Also, we can use the high draft pick we didn't use on a RB on a different player.

I'm just waiting for somebody to do a "Should we draft Kenny Hilliard in the sixth round?" thread.

It's coming and you know it.

There's no need to draft a RB in the 1st Round anymore. You can get serviceable backs in Day 2 and 3 these days.
