maybe it will a resumption of the lost art of tackling. I see lots of college and pro players, especially in the secondary, that do the same thing all the time that Marcus Williams did: launch themselves into the air toward the ball carrier without extending to wrap up. Like the sheer force of their blow will bowl over the ball carrier. This is especially prevalent with LSU and the Saints players.

Don't coaches coach tackling technique any more? You know, gather your feet under you, drive with your legs toward the ball carrier, watch the belly button of the ball carrier (it doesn't move), stay low, keep your head up, hit him withyour shoulder or chest, wrap up, drive through the ball carrier, take him down, don't let go until he's on the ground and the whistle blows. I just don't get the shoddy tackling technique so prevalent today.

Well, we certainly have source video for teaching purposes now.

"Hey, watch Marcus Williams. This is how NOT to do it."

This has probably been the best tackling Saints defense since 2009. So no, this is not a wake up call. This was a mistake in approach not tackling.

That type of tackle he was going for would have ended the game. The problem is that he wasn't anywhere near the receiver. It was a really bad whiff.

Hopefully you don’t define your life by this.

It sucked, but I woke up happy.

Life rocks!
