Heath Shuler (D - NC) Wins Re-Election

Heath Shuler and Sam Wyche scored victories that had little to do with football Tuesday while basketball's Kevin Johnson was looking to become mayor of Sacramento, Calif., on a night when more than a dozen sports figures ran for office.
Shuler, a Heisman Trophy runner-up at Tennessee who played quarterback for the Washington Redskins and New Orleans Saints, won in his first bid for re-election to Congress.
Shuler is a North Carolina Democrat whose district is in the state's western mountains. He defeated Carl Mumpower, who had irritated local Republican officials by saying he would support efforts to impeach President Bush.
"I did what I said I would do and I think the people saw that," Shuler said.

2 wins in a row? Insert your own football joke here.

That was quite a stable of quarterbacks we had back then. Shuler, Danny Wuerfel, and Doug Nussmeier.

More wins than when he started for us?

Based on a few interviews I've seen, both when he was playing, and since he's been in Congress, I have come to the conclusion that Heath is one of the dumbest people on the planet. I'm not sure how that escaped the scouts of the Redskins and Saints, but this guy is as dumb as a bag of hammers. Congress is the perfect place for him.
