I would guess it depends on who's available when their spot comes up. If there's a "can't miss" defensive guy, then it should be a no-brainer. Are there any "can't miss defensive guys in this year's draft around the Saints' pick???

9 defensive picks, 11 offensive picks (5 Offensive Linemen) and 1 kicker out of 21 total picks. Seems pretty even to me.

and I have a gut feeling that Payton will never draft another kicker/punter...

ever.

If he doesn't draft a defensive player, he will get eating alive. By us, and by the media.

I'd be happy if one of the franchise type LTs was drafted.

The Saints should trade down & get as many defensive players as possible. There is no stand out stud at any defensive position that is so head & shoulders above anyone else that thay can't afford to trade for more odies to create competetion. They can get a running back in free agency or later in the draft.

Could we trade down and still pick up someone like Ciron Black at OT? I just read a website that wanted us to pick Lauranitis to play MLB and hopefully resign Vilma and move him to WLB. Does the whole LB thing sound stupid? I believe it does, but just a question.

Why does everyone want a LT? I think our OTs are pretty damn good. I was thinking another OG at best.

But I'm with everyone else with the safety need. William Moore from Mizz would be awesome. Maybe an OLB in the second round.

Because it was pretty obvious that offense kept us from winning.

when each team in your division has a guy at DE that your LT cannot block, you need a LT

Who thinks Dumbass Sean P will draft another offensive player, instead of drafting defensive players? I know he drafted Ellis last year. But he's an offensive guy, and I truely believe he will draft a WR, OL, or RB instead of taking a corner, or LB.

why a wr? with brees you can take average players and turn them into above average players - lance moore

why a ol? nicks was a late rounder, most free agents do well - now if you want a LT that may be another issue

why a rb? solid there, free agents seem to fit this offense well - pierre thomas anyone

Our O-line isn't bad, but it's not great. The main reason an OT would be a good 1st round pick is that our line is sooo out of wack. We have left tackles playing right, we have guards playing out of position. If we drafted a true LT then we could really rearrange our line and put everyone where they play best.
