is this the time of the year when we start picking out all kinds of LB's we can get with the first pick of our draft?
more so in January and we do with great anxiousness just to be let down every year. With the first pick down at #64 it might actually happen though. That is a range where a lotta backers go.
Looked up some of those...
Trevathon- nice story, scouting comments, late round flyer maybe, a Nate Bussey competitor?
Boykin- looks 2nd Rdish but I can't see another CB first unless it was overwhelming value. Don't sleep on Johnny Patrick
Jarvis Jones- only seeing him projected as a 3-4LB. That position gets a little premiun. LB class looks kinda weak. He might go early considering that.
Spence- more like 3-4th Rd by early projections. Size is his real issue. May really be 5'10". Some think he might be a better SS prospect

What does everyone think?
We should draft a LB 1st so we all can stop talking about 'taking a LB 1st'.

being this is the saints and they usually never draft who we want, i say we go cornerback or FS with our first pick

But you know with the rules and wishes of the league today I think Payton and Gregg see the need for talented CB's so I wouldn't be to surprisd at all.
As Blu said Loomis and the FO love to fill the most needed spots with FA and go BPA in the draft. Seems to be working OK.

A high likelihood for my 2012 predictions will be that Porter will walk, Johnny patrick will step up, and we don't miss a beat with CBs.
With the contract situation for Colston & Mechem I'm scouting WRs as potential #64s too...
the way early list-
Kendall Wright, Baylor- prolly higher range
Alshon Jeffery, South Carolina- just maybe
Nick Toon, Wisconsin- see how he shakes out from the Combine
Jeff Fuller, Tx AM
Greg Childs ARK
Mohamed Sanu Rutgers
any of ya'll remember last year's way early list? friggin Aldon Smith could be defensive ROY. Justin Houston had a quality year too

Did we release that LB that we got as an UFA from Iowa, or was he put on IR? Don't remember dude's name, but he was supposed to be pretty good.
