Last yr he wasn't that good

He was inconsistent due to injury but still finished 3rd in PBE

Played well after he rested.

I didn't say otherwise, although last year he wasn't himself either.

2010: 2nd round Tackle Charles Brown, 5th round Center Matt Tennant
2012: 6th round Guard Andrew Tiller, 7th round Tackle Marcel Jones
2013: 3rd round Tackle Terron Armstead, UDFA C/G Tim Lelito
2014: 6th round Tackle Tavon Rooks.

In the same span WR/TE/RB offensive skills position:
2010: 3rd round TE Jimmy Graham, UDFA RB Chris Ivory
2011: 1st round RB Mark Ingram
2012: 2nd round for Mark Ingram, 4th round WR Nick Toon
2013: 5th round WR Kenny Stills, UDFA TE Josh Hill, UDFA RB Khiry Robinson
2014: 1st round/3rd round WR Brandin Cooks

drafting guys in the 6th and 7th round is not showing a focus on the O-line though. But i get what your saying, they've wasted a lot of draft picks and roster spots on guys that didn't pan out. Most of those have been late round picks though -charles brown.

The way I see it, we only needed to address tackles and centers. We invested so much money into the guards that it was never a necessity to draft a replacement. We had a solid RT in Stinchcomb for years, then Strief replaced him as well. We tried a few late rounds in an attempt to groom a backup.

We tried to draft a center in Tennant as an heir, he didn't pan out. Drafting centers after 2011 seemed pointless with how DLP played after Goodwin->Kreutz->DLP afterwards. Then we picked up Lelito in 2013, and let DLP go after he played horribly last year. We repeatedly tried to fix Jammal Brown's departure with Bushrod, but he signed a huge contract we couldn't afford and it took a 2nd and a 3rd rounder to find that new replacement. The random late rounders were attempts at replacements, trying to strike gold.

As for skills position, we needed to get younger and faster over the years. Seattle destroyed us last year because we couldn't get separation. Players were starting to show their age and breaking down.

As I understand the NFL's rules, I believe he would have to resign, we would consider not signing him to a new contract or trading him to another team.

Saints passed on his option (5 mil). It was the right move. We can get him at 4 to 4.5 million IMO. Let's wait and see how this season plays out first though. If Payton goes back to 3 back system then Marks leaving. Payton looks like he doesn't enjoy running the football 35-40 times a game. He'd rather launch it 40 plus plays a game and lose.

Ingram is a back that needs carries. He proved that at Alabama. As long as he is healthy, he is a beast. I hope the Saints can work out a deal with him for years to come.

No team enjoys running the football 35-40 times a game. Cleveland leads the league in rushing attempts per game and they are averaging 33.3 attempts per game. The median for rushing attempts per game in the league right now is 26.7.

I do agree, however, that Ingram would rather leave if he thought he could be a true feature back somewhere else. Plans don't always work out though. Ivory got traded to Jets where he thought he would get feature type work and he is currently averaging 12.3 carries per game this season while having only 3 games of 20+ carries in his whole time with the Jets so far.

Yes and it's time to let Pierre Thomas go. Pierre has not contributed a full season for a number of years.
