I still can’t believe that someone this talented and productive who looks like a great fit as an edge pass rusher in the NFL would tumble this far due to subpar workouts, but it happens each year.
Over the next few weeks watch what happens to Jones because of all of the edge pass rushers at outside linebacker he becomes the guy most likely to be there for the Saints at No. 15.
At No. 15 Jones is a player that two months ago I thought would never be there, but in the real NFL, there is a good chance he might be.

Louisiana Tech offensive tackle Jordan Mills is going to visit the New Orleans Saints, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.
Mills is a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection who's regarded as a rising draft prospect.
He's the cousin of Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams.
Some draft analysts project him from the second round to third round.
The 6-foot-5, 316-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 5.23 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.
He bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times, registering a 28 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 28 1/2 inch vertical leap, an 8-5 broad jump, a 4.88 20-yard shuttle and an 8.10 three-cone drill.
Mills has drawn comparisons to Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher.

I would love Jarvis Jones just as much as the next guy, but there are TWO big concerns that I have.
1. He obviously tore up the college ranks, in the SEC even. But what if this guy is just skating by on natural talent? He doesn't seem to put in any effort in strength and conditioning. I worry that he may hit a brick wall at some point in the NFL with lack of a work ethic. I would also question his ability to study play books/film and better himself in that area as well.
2. Very simple logic - if he slides all the way down to #15, who's to say that the Saints will take him? CSP has made a couple statements along the lines of health and the direction they want to go.
Again, I love Jarvis Jones... But I'm just pointing out that it may not be a home run pick even if he does fall to #15

It'll be his job to work on it. Even if he doesn't become a gym rat he'll be in better shape than he was in college.
He's seems like a gamer and I'll take those any day of the week.
What I'm really looking forward to (beyond the 1st round) is what small school players we take. I scratch my head at some of these picks every year like "Who?" but then I read up on them and I wanna kiss the scouting department.

in a way his poor workout numbers show the contrary. As big as the spinal stenosis is as a factor, the poor workout numbers might land him here.
It looks like a repeat of Terrell Suggs in '03. Everything about his game tape said super elite top 3-5. Poor workout and he fell to #10. He's had 84 sacks in 10 years since. Kinda makes ya salivate as a fan imagining if Jones could end up being that kinda guy.
It's looking a lot like a possibility that the Jets will have a choice of Mingo or Jones. Whoever they don't take could be #15. Wonder if Rex and Rob have had any scouting talks?

Has Jones missed any games the last few years for health reasons? I believe his initial injury at USC was a pretty decent stinger. Would've kept just about anyone out. Not like he keeps tweaking his hamstring or wimping out. USC just had apparently crappy doctors.

I really hope we can get him, I just don't think dominating in college translates to the pros unless you are willing to put in the effort and adapt your game

I was talking about his back situation. Again, I personally don't think it is an issue, I am just stating that if he falls to us because of THAT then why would the saints be willing to automatically scoop him up if other on their big board are still in play

See I'm not so sure about that, simply because nobody expected him to have a great combine or pro day and he was still ranked top5.

Yeah like I said I could be wrong. If he slid because of the neck thing I would be nervous to pick him because everyone else was too nervous as well

dayum, poor potential draftees don't have a chance around here. Jones good tape makes him someone to be leery of. Mingo not having enough dominate game tape is a put off to others. I spose someone with great game tape and great workout is even more questionable.

The 6’3”, 302-pound Greencastle, Pa., native made a name for himself after joining the team as a redshirt in 2008. Over 42 games with the Wildcats, Smith totaled 129 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, five pass deflections, three forced fumbles and five blocked kicks. Following his 2012 campaign, Smith was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team and to the College Sports Journal FCS All-America squad.
The 23-year-old earned invites to the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game in Allen, Texas and the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. He impressed as a member of The Nation team, notching two sacks. He also performed well at the combine, benching 28 reps of 225 pounds, running a 5.08 second 40-yard dash and even a posting 7.2 second three-cone drill.
