I want Nnamdi as much as the next person, but you can't just say minus the last two years like it's a small detail. Was it because of Philly's scheme, or was it because he lost a step? We don't know for sure, and to me, that's a bigger question mark than Butler's lack of starts.

I hate to agree, but I must. I'm also assuming Butler will be cheaper too.

McKinney wasn't even starting for the Ravens last year until the playoffs because of injuries to their O-line.

and that O Line shakeup is cited as a key factor in how they turned it on in the stretch. He was ballin.

He has ballooned to over 400lbs before however. i don't advocate him as the answer but is a savvy vet that showed he can still play. The age will make him affordable.

I don't even mind starting Brown- definitively determine if he has what it takes. If he doesn't or get injured yet again ya have a fallback that you aren't worried about being a turnstile.

I mean I agree because of the money as well.. Not to mention everyone keeps forgetting about Greer through all of this. He's a baller. If he stays healthy he's a top 10 cover corner. So underrated. I was just making the point that Butler's age is nice, but it wouldn't be my deciding factor between the other 2, more so with McKinnie, because of how desperate we are for a LT.

Can't argue with the results, but his main question will be are you confident in him holding up the whole year with his age and weight?

not at all but he still looks like the best cost/available skills option. As said, start Brown. See if he can do it. But if he can't or goes down you have a viable option.

Bill Robinson at RT last year off the street from bartending is one thing. LT is another whole level of risk IMO.

I want McKinney as a starter at LT. Want Brown starting at RT. Looked pretty good before he got hurt.

As for who need to sign, I would love any of them. Still think Nnamdi would be biggest impact, but who knows. As long as we sign one of these guys, our draft will be much better due to not having to go some order of LT,CB,LB with our first few picks. Sign one of them (two would be great, 3... NFL fricked), trade back, and go best player available.

I'd be upset if they got N.A., from a cap standpoint. He's a great player, one of the best fits in FA for our new defense. My biggest concern is the LT position (which this hire would fill for now), and OLB. We need a veteran at OLB if we want any defensive impact this year.

I think we have enough cap for 1 or maybe 2 good hires in FA this year. I'd love to see NA in black and gold next year, but 1 CB will not generate more impact on pass rush than a veteran OLB. If they are able to shore up our offensive line and improve our pass rush just from FA this year, I'd call it a win.

Well I think he's about the same as Bushrod, right here and now. If you compare the players at their prime, I think McKinney was definitely better than what Bushrod is now in his prime. Nothing is certain in the NFL, but I'd be willing to bet that we won't see much of a statistical difference between Bushrod (last year) and McKinney (next year, if hired). Consider the budgetary impact of both players, if acquired, this would be a great stopgap for one or two more years.

We all know how good Brees is about staying away from edge pressure. He's not your typical pocket QB.

Haha, I hear ya. He's an older guy I worked with out of Houston; he likes nature photography and wanted to retire somewhere that doesn't punish you for it. I'll probably have to stash my retirement fund in silver/gold and smuggle it out of country to live comfortably. This country is changing, and not for the better I'm afraid.

the apology should be mine. But the way i've slobbered over McKinnie I deserve the slack in a thread about him.

Agreed. All 3 have question marks, but I feel like Butler has the least question marks about him, fills a higher position of need, and he is also the youngest.

IMO the highest position of need is LT. Right now we have Charlie Brown who cannot be counted on for a whole season. This position is supposed to protect our biggest investment and best player. I don't care if we go with McKinney or get a LT via the draft but we better get one.

While a pass rusher, CB or LB would be nice, they are 2nd on the needs list as far as I am concerned.
