my fault I saw 3 years 42 guaranteed and just did a straight calc

All good, just don't want people to get confused or misunderstand how this things all play into it.
If a player can get more than 2/3rds guaranteed on a 3 year, or more than 3/4ths in a 4 year (and so on) then they team is locking themselves in unless they can escape some of that guaranteed money (such as a roster bonus that becomes guaranteed at a certain date but isn't fully guaranteed at signing, with that date being beneficial to the team, which is rare these days).
