I'll cry if Lance Moore leaves the Saints. He only dropped one pass last season

He's Drew's biggest safety valve and main go-to guy. That's all I need to know.

just don't get too excited about the tenders. no one really knows how free agency years/status will shake out.
a 2nd sounds right to me. I don't think he will get much attention. Kinda a poor man's Welker that many prolly count as a result of the system.
Put it this way, if someone did take him I wouldn't miss him too bad getting someone like RB Ryan Williams, DTs Phil Taylor, Marvin Austin or Drake Nevis, LBs Mason Foster, Bruce Carter, or Sturdivant, or slot replacement Titus Young or Jernigan- all tied up for a few years at a fraction of the cost of a Moore deal.

To answer any questions about the 'tender offer' I just found out myself. And I wish I could tweet how I really feel about it. But I won't answer many questions about my contract situation. Sorry guys

Nah I'll pass. Moore easily has some of the best hands in the league, I'd put his route running up against any receiver and he's proven that he can be the go to guy and were not gonna ge that from a 1st or 2nd year player. Yes, Brees and our offense can throw to any receiver with talent but Lance is the blueprint for reliability and perfection. He would be a hug loss and deserves a quality contract. Henderson and Arrington can't equal Moore if you put them together, and Colston drops more big catches than a #1 receiver should. His number gets called to make those big catches and He always delivers. I can't name another player on our offense beside Drew that I have more confidence in.

After reading his twitter, he's pissed about it. Not good.

Well, he can get over it. This is business. If someone offered Lance Moore starting wide receiver money he's leave the Saints in a heartbeat and not think twice. The Saints are doing what's best for them. Moore is valuable to the Saints, but not to many other teams. I'd love to see them pay him, because he has earned it, but with all of the other free agents they have to re-sign and the Drew Brees mega-deal that has to get done, it ain't going to happen this year.

Gots to disagree Blu.
Lance is one of the few must signs for the Saints IMO. He seems to be indispensable for Brees.
Keep him. He's earned the right to stack his papers high.

Remember this when the new CBA gets done and Lance isn't a RFA anymore. Remember if he leaves it's just business and he is doing what's best for him

I'm fine with it. I hold no ill will for a man getting the best deal he can for himself. That being said, Lance has been in this position before and the number of teams lining up for him was not exactly overwelming. He is a big asset for the Saints in their offense, but not a huge free agent target for other teams. I have no doubt that if the Saints want him back, they will easily match any other teams offers (if there even are any).

Yeah no one is giving up a 2nd and a deal for Moore.
That said he will be a unrestricted free agent under the new CBA. He will have more suitors once that 2nd rounder isn't part of the price tag.

I don't know how many he'll really have, but I wish him the best. He has been great for the Saints and I hope they keep him.

i keep seeing this being said. can you explain to someone less knowledgeable how things are going to change under the new deal in this respect?

things changed because there isn't a new deal. Since free agency started in the NFL, after 4 or 5 years of NFL service you were a unrestricted free agent. When they failed to extend the CBA, and the last year of it started it changed 2 important rules 1) no salary cap 2) to be a unrestricted free agent you had to have 6 years of NFL service.
So guys like Moore who would have been unrestricted under the original rules became restricted. There is every reason to believe that a new CBA will revert back to the original rules meaning all players with 4 years will be unrestricted.
Even Peter King who has been little more than a mouthpiece for the owners on the CBA said in his Monday article
quote:
that when a new CBA happens, unrestricted free agency will revert to the original rules -- if you're not franchise- or transition-tagged when unsigned after four or five years, you're free
