I'll try to keep this brief since I'm on mobile. But I'll go into further explanation if you want.
I'll preface this by saying I obviously have no inside source, nor am I a professional. I'm left with to my own devices - knowledge, videos, news, reports.
Based on what we know, the Saints are clearly doing their homework on not only Lynch, but the QB position in general as there have been 5 QB visits (ranks in the tops among all positions). Lynch himself has met with us at least 3 different times, one of which was a personal visit in NO. Teams have a limited number of personal visits, so to me, the whole smokescreen angle sounds less viable as I don't think a team would waste a PV on something like that. Attending a Pro Day and meeting then, possibly could see it there. But a PV I find that to be less legitimate.
Secondly I personally think Lynch has one of, if not the highest ceiling among all QBs in this draft. However as I've stated many times I feel to reach his full potential I think he's going to need to sit for at least a year, possibly two to actually reach that full potential physically, but mostly mentally. We can afford him that opportunity. Which leaves me into my next point..
Brees. He's 37. Negotiations have sputtered. Father time is undefeated. As much as we hate to think about it the Brees-Era is near an end, at least IMO. I think he's got 2, possibly 3 years, if we/he is lucky, of above average QB play(perfect time table for Lynch). No athlete has ever, ever been able to escape the grasps of time. And as much as we think of Brees as out knight in shining armor, he's not immune to this.
I do actually think our Super Bowl window is shut(although speeded up greatly by one Roger 'frickhead' Goodell). Our defense is so bad, I really don't think we have enough years to rebuild it, at least through the draft with our current mid teen positions, in time before Brees is unable to carry a decent defense like he did in '09. I don't think ANY rookie, regardless of position that we could take at 12 could have a big enough IMMEDIATE impact to remedy this either. Hence I and the FO are thinking of the future. It's not often you're out in a position to take a QB with the traits Lynch possesses, WHILE ALSO being afforded to ease him in under a HoF QB (Which he needs). I think this is a very good opportunity to secure ourselves for the post-Brees Era. Mind you there's still plenty of defensive talent to be had in Round 2 and after. It's not like we're going to miss out on that side of the ball completely.
As I said in the beginning I have absolutely no clue what the FO is actually thinking, nor does anybody else who's not actually in it. But this is just something I've gathered and belive from the information that's been presented in front of me.

All i just read is blah blah blah I've lost my mind blah blah blah.
Look Lynch is going to be gone before we pick anyway but anyway they brought in 3 different QBs last year also. We always do all of our homework on every player that will go around where we are picking. They have met with him so many times because I believe they are trying to do 2 things. One, Give themselves a leg up in the Brees negotiations to make him hurry and sign. Two, to make other teams believe they need to trade up with us or we are going to take Lynch. But I'm sorry there is no way we spent a 3rd round last year on a QB then going to waste a 1st on one this year before he has had time to prove himself. Besides the fact that it would basically be throwing away this season if we did so. Come on man wake up and smell the cleats. QB at 12 is not happening.

Also, very important to do diligent profiles on all qb's in these drafts if we are weighing veteran replacement options in years 4 and 5 from here on out.

Ok, well you can continue to believe that, that's your opinion. I feel I have a well thought out opinion. Will it come true, who the hell knows. But it's not asinine.
If you honestly believe Grayson is the answer I feel sorry for you. It was and will be a wasted 3rd round pick. This is the same guy who couldn't even see the field when Brees was out, because he couldn't overcome the massive hurdle that is Luke McCown. Luke Frickign McCown.
Also
at this:
You have very, very flawed thinking if you think ONE rookie regardless of round is going to make or break this season. Have you forgot that we have 5 other picks? ANd that this is one of the deepest DT classes ever. And that that is one of our biggest needs. And that we can get a solid guy in rounds 2, 3, 4 or 5.Not to mention in our range we're not even in the running for one of the few prospects that even has close to the potential to be a gamechanger from Day 1.
Look as I said before, this is just my opinion from what we've been presented. Just because you disagree doesn't make me immediately wrong. Could I be? Absolutely. But so could you about not only this but Spence too. We don't know for certain.
P.S. to Chad. Players, especially QBs can and will change A LOT mentally and physically in the span of 4 to 5 years. For arguments sake, if what you're saying is actually the case, they could be looking at a completely different person and player than the one they originally met with 5 years ago. Players grow and change.
ETA: in regards to your quoted tweet...Riddick sucks. Have you seen his recent mock? I would take anything he says about the Saints with a grain of salt. Especially considering he's not even an insider with the team.

He(or any young QB) wasn't going to learn the saints offense in just a few months. Mccown actually played pretty damn well.
Its absurd to expect a young QB in a completely new offense to beat out an established vet.
Let's see how GG looks over the summer before damning him

There have been plenty of rookies who stasted or played from day one. For better or worse. Don't give me that. They didn't even feel comfortable enough to give him some real game reps over a 34 year old journey man backup. I suppose it isn't too fair to 100% dismiss him, but it definitely doesn't bode well.
Plus Lynch >>>> Grayson as a prospect, especially physically.

It was early in the season against a division opponent on the road. You're going to go with the vet who's been in the system for 2+ years and has seen a decade if NFL defenses.
If its week 14-15 or mccown stunk it up in that game yeah I maybe could see that but it wasn't the case.

Be that as it may, I just don't trust the future of this franchise to Grayson. I think he can be a very solid backup in the NFL and have a nice, long, fruitful career that way. But I just can't ever see him leading a SB winning team. Even from what I saw of him at Colorado State. If I'm wrong frick it, idc because that means we won the SB.

no one cares about mock drafts they are never even close to being right. in every sport.

my two cents:
if we dont trade up to get buckner or ramsey(ITO),
and hargreaves or jack(ITO) are not there at 12,
i think we should trade back and acquire picks. 1st spence, apple, jackson(ITO)
I like bullard in the 2nd maybe thomas if we get an extra pick
dbo in the 3rd maybe miller if the extra pick is there
westerman in the 4th (if he lasts lol)
aguyao in the 5th
duke williams in the 7th
this is probably best case scenario,
so maybe, hopeful two cents.

I'm gonna say our pick in round 2 may be Whitehair instead of Spence since Whitehair fell out of the 1st
