We were a top 3 team this year before all the injuries. I doubt our starting 5 played more than a dozen or so games together. It’s really funny to hear all the experts try to write the Lakers season off as “oh they were fine before the injuries” but the Pels (nor any other team) doesn’t get that same benefit if using injuries as a reason the season sucked even tho our entire team was hurt most of the year.

So much of the NBA and its outcome is luck based. Which is why I shake my head when people try to act like they KNOW who is a great coach, a great GM, a great POBO candidate, etc.
You name any "bad" team and I will show you bad luck. Any "great" team and I will show you how they got extremely lucky. LIke Dwight Howard spurning the Warriors and instead going to Houston. Don't get me wrong, some of it is skill and intelligence, but people look far too much at outcome and judge retroactively, when a lot of outcome is luck based.

Daryl Morey once said one of his biggest frustrations is that you get to the playoffs and so often it boils down to individual performances and there is just a huge luck component to that can’t be accounted for as a variable.
