I'll just add that it was Gentry who asked Dell to sign them shortly after being hired. I've linked the NOLA article here in the past.
I'm just frustrated like everyone else. I played the game enough to have an opinion that's semi-informed, and I don't like a lot of Gentry's decision about who should play when, at what pace and in what style.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm entitled to my opinion just like everyone else. Like I said, agree to disagree...

hey, that's fine. i dont want to get into an internet shouting match. the point isnt that you're "dumb."
if it came across that way, i apologize.
i guess the question would be how do you justify calling for more Asik, but then wanting Hill to ride the pine b/c he forces the team to play 4 v 5 on offense?
to me, Asik's days were numbered in the league even when he was playing well in 14/15. many people knew that he would be useless v GS that series. that going small for spacing was a league wide trend and that Omer Asik wasnt good enough even on defense to make teams pay for going small v the Pels
whoever advocated for those years on his deal (Gentry, Demps, Loomis, Benson, players) made a mistake and most people felt that way at the time. they should rightly be ridiculed for a foolish contract

It didn't. No need for an apology.
I think I just forgot I was on Pels talk and not Tiger Rant. Pels Talk is the "grown-up table" of Tiger Droppings... Lapse of judgment on my part.

This is what I was referencing.
quote:
Shortly after Davis signed his extension, the Pelicans announced that starting center Omer Asik, backup center Alexis Ajinca and backup forward Dante Cunningham were all re-signed.
Gentry said he likes having the combination of Asik and Ajinca at the center spot because it provides him with desired flexibility with his rotations. Gentry likes Asik's rebounding ability and Ajinca's ability to step out of the post to take shots but also score near the basket.
''The center position is covered,'' Gentry said. ''It was really important to try and bring all of the guys back because I thought they laid a really good foundation here when you think about the fact that you won 45 games and really Anthony ended up missing 12 to 14 games (due to injury)."
