Of the 40 million he makes this year, 37 million was a signing bonus allowing it to be counted against the cap over a 5 year span. In Essence, Brees is only counting 7 million against the cap per year from that number plus an additional 3 million. This year he will count as only 10 million against the salary cap. (not sure but I think the cap is 120 million-ish?) 10 mil is a small price to pay for Drew.

Funny....all u idiots come back to us when the Saints are providing paper bags to place around your heads after this glorious run....and after possibly a 6-10 season this year, I can't wait to see how your blood pressure rises....I love how u guys act as though the Saints are an Icon, been successful for generations.....enjoy my friends....
