What I mean is that maybe he isn't a traditional 5. He may be more a 4 that can play some 5. Hayes could be 230 soaking wet, but that is a huge difference when your banging against players 25-35 lbs. heavier.

Beating the opposing bigs up the court is not just for alley-oops (even if we had someone that could consistently toss one) but for setting pace, making the floor unbalanced in transition, and clearing paths for secondary action. This makes scoring the ball easier for everyone.

If Hayes had enough skill to do anything other than an alley-oop, then beating guys down the floor could mean something. But all he can do is catch lobs. He can't pin someone else under the rim or take advantage of a mismatch.

From a team that can barely get an entry pass into Val or BI when they pin down. Again, I'm not saying he doesn't have a lot of development to do, but for a team that lacks rim protection, and has trouble generating easier baskets he has skills that could help. Even with his limited 'skill' and playing time, he blocks more shots and gets more dunks than the majority of the team. Those blocks and dunks contribute too.

He's back to playing with energy and seems to know he can lose his minutes at any time. Maybe that's all he needs to wake up, just a couple weeks of benching a year. He's looking alot more like the Jax we seen post ASB last season

My problem is he had this same issue last season and got benched and then came out to play after. Needs to be more self motivated

But they get offset by his low BBIQ. He cannot guard a PnR and tries to block every shot, leading to him fouling or being out of position. He just comes across as lazy and confused at times.

Pels been bullied this whole East Coast Trip. Look for Randle, Robinson, Gibson, and Toppin to try to do the same thing. Our hole at the 4 is as big as the hole at the 1. Maybe we'll see Hayes and Val for some stretches.

Jax is terrible in so many areas, there's literally no hope for him

How can you be 7 foot 1, the most athletic guy on the court every game and only get 2 rebounds?

At this point I'd rather have Asik back. At least he could rebound

Jax should be getting 6-7 boards a game on God given gifts alone
