I am assuming you both played in the post and wasn't the most effective at doing so by this. I agree with some but the blame isn't always someone else.
1) You have to feel the post player pre-entry pass, as you're receiving it, and afterwards. Knowing the double was coming (when it did in fact come versus late rotation which was allowed because he never made a quick move), he should have had some sort of plan (do not feel like going into the countless number of quick post moves based on the defenders positioning that are available to what is supposed the 2nd best player in this draft). A quick spin/explosion to the rim based on where the defender was located would have easily beat Terrance Jones (whom TRob made look like a good post defender which he isn't).
2) Coach Self. I kept trying to figure out why Withey was in the post play after player when TRob caught it. Early (and late, and when they actually did it) it was effective with the one dribble to the free throw line from Withey and a pass to TRob in the post. Always got a good shot or fouled out of the 3 times I recall Withey dribbling. Also effective was when there was motion and TRob caught it on perimeter and made a quick (notice that word) and strong move to the rim. I really thought TRob tried to overthink the game (mainly because of Uni-Brows presence). He should have been less methodical and more physically attacking against a team that is 6 deep and only one can really play post D (maybe this was the game plan, if so... t'is why they loss).
3) Thank You for pointing this out. Tough to watch in person (plan on watching a replay) but I do not recall him ever making a pass out of the post (I do know this about the 1st meeting: Thomas Robinson was doubled 8 times in low post. He passed out once, was 1-5 FG, 2 TO when he kept the ball). This is a tail-tail sign about the future and his in-ability to make that pass out of the post. Maybe he has wing guys who stand around, again tough to tell in person, but if the book on him is he can not handle a double (certainly seems so against UK) then the NBA is going to eat him up with digs, quick doubles, shows, hard traps, and overplaying helpside.
All these critiques and I still say it is a coin toss at #2. Not 100% happy with him or MKG but based on our coach, what he likes, and what I have seen... I want MKG as the fit.

I did play post in high school cuz I was the tallest on the team at 6'5", but in college, I had to transcend into a wing.
Agree, you are supposed to feel with your backside on where the defender is pre-entry, after creating a base to receive the pass. However, good defenders are taught to not body so much and only use the forearm so the offensive player doesnt know ur whereabouts; so in that regard, no, you cannot make a quick (less than 2 seconds) move to the basket...you'll get blocked or stolen everytime. You have to be smart down low cuz you dont have much room to work with.
A quick spin/explosion to the rim is a fantastic move to use, but only when you get ur defender leaning one way or another...AND...not that great of a shot blocker. Jones and Davis get a lot of their blocked shots from behind a player mainly cuz they time the shot so well....so if you spin on them, they still have the athleticism to get back and block the shot.
My main point is that T-Rob needed to get these guys in foul trouble with pump fakes. Thats why Cody Zeller was so effective against Davis.
But you are right about the play calling on Coach Self's part. They could've run the high-low all night as well as the pick and roll.

I was joking on that first part if you didn't catch it. I actually have a lot of experience working with post players though to answer that question earlier. Last night though, the only thing TRob didn't try was a quick fake one way and go the other. Never did he ever put any pressure on the defense is the way I saw it. (terrible English in this reply FWIW) ... I just felt he waited and settled for what has given to him. I never felt like he was the aggressor last night. He certainly rebounded extremely well but offensively I felt he could have been more aggressive.
Not related but the game, in my opinion, was won due to the ability of the UK bigs to handle the ball and create shots for others. Anthony Davis on the dribble hand-off was flat out incredible.
I 100% stand by my comparison of him to KG after last night.

Last night was the first time I really watched him intently, and I've seen a lot of talk about his outside shot, but it seems like it will come along to me. His FT stroke looked smooth, so it's not as if he's got some terrible mechanics.
It seems like if he puts in the time his shooting will come.

It's definitely the best comp.
He's stronger than he "looks" as well.
His shots weren't falling, but he has a pretty clean stroke, and the fact that they feel comfortable with him playing high post is a pretty good indication things.

Robinson was really just outmanned down low, IMO. There's areas where he could have played better, but when you have Jones guarding you and Davis ready to pounce from the help-side, you really have limited options. Kentucky didn't really truly double much at all. They didn't have to. Yeah, the Withey to Robinson high-low worked a few times, but in the second half, that was really taken away as Davis was sagging way off of Withey when he had the ball, making that pass really tough to make. They really needed to have someone else in for Withey that Davis had to respect from the outside to draw him away from the rim to give Robinson more spacing. Kentucky was packing the lane with their length and size. Kansas needed to hit more shots from outside to make them respect it and space the floor.
That said, Self was really in a bind because Withey was doing an outstanding job on Davis on the other end of the floor. While Davis didn't beat Kansas with his offense, letting Davis potentially have his way against another defender wasn't a risk he could take.
Having a midrange jumper really would have helped Robinson last night. He can hit it from time to time, but not consistently yet. He had a few solid looks from the FT line that he could have attempted but he passed it off or put in the floor instead.

Good comparison to KG....the veteran.
Rookie KG had a completely different demeanor with more enthusiasm and tenacity.
My comparison is a mix of KG and Tim Duncan.
