His confidence is shot. You could see it just dwindling down to zero in the Utah game. Missed a few shots (I blame myself, I took the over 3.5 points) and then started just making sloppy mistakes. Not looking for the inbound, etc. He went to the bench with like 8 minutes left and never came back in. He let his poor offensive night impact his whole game and was just a liability

He's basically a "Thybulle", when Thybulle was at Philly & everybody hated him (especially Embiid) & they tried to get rid of him for a coupla years & nobody wanted him.
Then they finally unloaded him to Portland last year & suddenly, out of the blue, the Mavs offered Thybulle (a RFA) the seemingly crazy sum of $33M for 3 yrs. WHICH THE BLAZERS IMMEDIATELY MATCHED.
You just gotta know how to "use" some of these guys, to get them kick-started to what kind of player they can be. Somebody with the Mavs saw "something" with Thybulle. I saw it about a week or two after he went to Portland last year.
Great thing is...Dyson is bigger, stronger...has a better handle...and is a much better creator off the dribble...than Thybulle. And if you don't think Thybulle is gonna be a very solid player...just check back later this season...when the Blazers trade him to a SERIOUS playoff contender who understands his true value. Dyson will be fine...and like I said about Herb when he first arrived...check back in a coupla years...we're all gonna luv this guy.

Yeah don’t disagree with what you said but I guy like Thybulle is unplayable in the playoffs. You’re basically paying him for regular season defense and no offense. Its what I worry about with Dyson but I’ve also seen signs of offensive improvement so lets see.

Obviously, the Mavs (& the Blazers) don't see Thybulle as unplayable in the playoffs. You don't offer 3 yr $33m with a 3rd year player option to somebody you think is unplayable. Especially somebody as apparently beaten down & useless...as Thybulle was...with 76ers. His career is about to take a turn to the upside...just a question of who snatches him up from Portland, later this season.

Yeah but sixers did. And thybulle really did nothing to help Dame get the team in playoff contention. Personally I think paying that much for Thybulle is kind of dumb. Hes averaging 5.9 points on a team that can’t score. He’s already been on 2 teams not really sure how you think his career is going to take some upside. In today’s NBA its hard to play guys, especially in playoffs, that are that deficient offensively. They have to literally be defensive player of the year candidates to justify playing time. That being said I think Dyson has potential to be much better than him on offense/defense and hopefully he will be.

If Dyson doesn't develop a respectable 3 point shot, his offensive game may end up being similar to a Dante Exum.

I'm most worried about his FT percentage. He needs to fix that first. He can work on the three ball this summer.
