What's the Board's Opinion on Electronic Sets Sans Live Instrumentation?

I don't mind either way. They aren't all big time producers that have a huge catalog to even play a full set of all their own music.

A group like Pendulum is great live with the DJ, guitarist, keyboard, etc. Conversely, Andy C is one of the best electronic DJs in the world and his sets are amazing. Its just him and 3-5 turntables.

Here is just a random piece of a set. Im linking it about two minutes in because the intro is a long drawn out song and he is taking a pic of the crowd lol.

He semi-double drops a song(commix-be true) into love is a potion after the link starts, and about the 4:20 mark he has a third song that he is getting ready to mix in. He pretty much started the double dropping in the edm world. Most dnb djs now have picked up the skill because its easier with the new equipment. Andy C has been doing this since they were strictly on vinyl. Double dropping dnb songs and letting them run while teasing in a 3rd song is no easy task on anything, let alone old style turntables. Ive been following him for around 15 years and have tons of live sets from him and have seen him multiple times and I can only think of one time where he trainwrecked a mix. And his trainwreck was barely noticeable and lasted about two seconds.

Here is another guy that ive seen a lot that only uses tables and is nothing short of amazing with just a mixer and tables. Ive seen him live and he is like this for his whole hour set

I can understand his live appeal. The crowd can actually follow what he's doing and probably gets the sense that what he's doing is actually creating something organic.

I saw Sylvan Esso which is a DJ with a singer. I didn't get it but the crowd loved them. I prefer people that can play instruments rather than twist knobs.
