Christianity has had influence on the world and art that cannot be overstated. So it's as natural for that to come up in secular music as it is to discuss sex or romance or politics.

I'd say a Christian band would need to either have promotion of Christianity as an objective behind the band, or at minimum, consistent inclusion of Christian themes in a very positive light.
