There you go again, I don't care what anybody does. I just made an offer to give somebody a phone number, that they can call and talk to somebody about getting some repairs done. The OP is probably an adult, and can decide what he wants to do. I offered information, and that drove your freak arse brain, nutz.
You are a control freak. frick you.
What I know, about the guy in Calera, he is supposed to be a whiz on vintage stereo equipment, he does a lot of work, for a guy who is a dealer in that stuff, but he prefers working on guitars and amps. That's it. I'm done.

If OP wants the guy's phone number, let me know.

Hey man...no need for the barrage of hostility and “frick you’s”...in all our back and forth, I’ve not once lashed out at you with “frick off” or the ever popular “eat a bag of dicks”, but I have held you to not reading the posts and then commenting on them.

Control freak...well, no.
Wanting to be precise and correct passing along info on technical issues...guilty as charged.

With that, this is a side board on a football forum—you seem to be good guy and are a fellow musician (bass player here) from your post history over the years...so, with that...

I tried to set my intentions of getting to OP the info he really needed (a full resto specialist and not a “break/fix” guy) from the get go, but you didn’t pick up on that...I understand you were trying to help, while at the same time I was trying to prevent the OP from taking that path.

I have over 7000 posts on the MB alone, many audio service/help related, and every couple months this topic pops up. My advice, which has been clearly stated for years (the regulars know it by now), is for the younger 20-30 somethings to stay away from vintage. It’s like buying a classic car—once you get into it, and if you really want it done right, it’s gonna cost a good bit more than you plan on. And finding the folks that really know how to do it correctly, especially as time marches on, is like finding a needle in a haystack. Most guys in that age bracket aren’t prepared to drop $500-1000 for a full restoration of a 40 year old piece.

However, the OP seemed to not be a 20-30 year old, and even replied that he was possibly interested in the full restoration route. I will always steer people into the specialists as I don’t believe in doing anything halfway—it just creates more problems down the road...and I say this because “been there, done it”, as I started in this hobby at age 7 and have been very active in it for 40 years running.

All my replies in this thread reiterated this sentiment, with reasons to back it.

And again, good luck with the Telecaster build...

Marco—what’s the go-to shop in the GNO area for quality used gear? Not looking for anything super high end, but will be in the market for a new receiver shortly. Budget will be $500 and under.

Not specifically looking for “vintage” used, though I had a Marantz 2230 receiver back in the day and would love something along those lines.

As always, thanks for you knowledge and input on the board.
