There are Dozens of Guitarists Better than Eddie Van Halen

(His name usually doesn't appear until the 2nd or third page of "Best of" lists on the MB and OT(prior to MB).
I don't know why he ever strapped an axe on his back. (Listen how awful. This is circa "5150" or "OU812"?)

It does sound pretty bad, but....In his defense he had probably just drank 45 beers and done $2,000 worth of coke, before the show.

Shut the hell up........EVH is the best.
Just ask the other guitarists that have tried to copy him the last 35 years.

It depends on what you consider "good". Some people like technique, some like feel. I appreciate EVH's technique, but I'd muchn rather listen to Billy Gibbons.
More notes doesn't make it better.

Yeah, because he was the first guitarist to play fast....

Give me Devin Townsend over EVH every day of the week. He is just as fast and has equally impressive techniques, but he also understands how wanky shredding is. It just gives his playing a lot more balance than most pure shredders. His guitar clinic videos on youtube are worth the time to watch.
If I'm looking for shear speed, I love some Fredrik Akesson. He does list EVH, but that is one of many.
