Not sure about any mixtapes; but as far as albums go, you can't go wrong with their first five albums: "Organix" "Phrenology" Illadelph Half life" "Do you want more" and "Things fall apart"

all their albums are pretty good. i really like the most recent one, undun. ive seen them close to 10 times. live shows are their bread and butter though. amazing live.

I like The Roots a lot. I've seen them I think six or seven times live. Getting into them is hard, though. They put out an album every year. I can't keep up with them.
I think "Things Fall Apart" is their best. That's the first one I listened to, and it got me onto them.
