This!! He sounded like Chester Bennington's little brother.

Aeroplane was their best song yesterday because it's not hard to stand in for Dave Navarro.

Yeah, Kiedis is terrible.

Meh - "terrible" is too strong. He does not have a melodic, solid singing voice. Serviceable? Yes. It works for their style of music, but that's also been the limiting factor.

Let's face it - he sings better than de la Rocha, has a comparable rhythm section, and a better guitarist.

But, he's not going to carry any band or any musical effort with his vocals alone.

Didn't Frusciante leave for good in 2009?

IIRC, he didn't leave as much as he was forced out. I thought the band wanted to go in a different direction and stop the drug use and John did not.

I don't think so, but who knows.

The band came out and said John wasn't interested in making album music and just wanted to play. It was amicable from what I can tell.

Umm, that was how he left the band in 1992. He had turned into an absolute junky by that time. However, he was stone cold sober for his second stint and apparently grew bored with the direction of the band and touring. That's why he left the second time.

Ahhhh thank you for clearing it up. His latest album that was recorded in all Spanish with Mars Volta led me to believe he was still fricked up.

Que? I assume you're talking about Kimono Kult. Definitely odd, but not exactly Your Pussy's Glued to a Building on Fire.

Honestly, he has become one of the most prolific artists in the business since he left RHCP:

I had read that article two years ago and I guess I exaggerated the facts.

I personally love Klinghoffer's vocals

He's no Frusciante obviously, but I thought he did a fine job. He has a very 90s grunge, but can still shred vibe. Plus his guitar levels were fricked up the entire show. I noticed Kiedis' mic was going in and out as well. Sound issues were annoying but I thought it was a great show. I got excited when the guys from the Meters came out because I remember what they did at Voodoo in 06' which was killer.

Yeah, it's impossible to fully replace Frusciante, but Klinghoffer is the best choice in my opinion.

He and Frusciante have written music together since 2002, and he's been John's understudy for quite a while now.
