After a few more listens, I’ll say My Rajneesh is excellent. Song of the year contender. I know the album is already 80 minutes, but it’s a shame it’s not on the album. America is a solid song, but this is another level.
The one good thing about it not being on the album, is I can just wear it out now instead of having to balance wanting to listen to it and wanting to save it for the album.

I dig Sugar. It may be my favorite that has been released so far. This reminds me more of Adz era Sufjan.

It’s probably my favorite of the singles that will be on the album. I’d take My Rajneesh over any of them though.

I'm stoked that this album is 80 minutes...that's a lot of music! It's his longest album to date, outside of his X-mas albums.

Any opinions on the new album? It’s growing on me, but I don’t think it will end up as top tier Sufjan.

I’m pretty much the same as you. I didn’t like it much at first. It’s grown on me a little but it will not be an album of his that I will listen to often. I think he just wanted to try something different. It kinda sucks because it may be a few years until we get more new material. Here’s to hoping for Xmas album 3.

Honestly, this is the first Sufjan Stevens album I've been able to listen to all the way through more than once. He has some really good songs, but I often find myself getting bored with him fairly quickly. This one caught me off-guard.
