Looking forward to it. It’s been too long since Carrie and Lowell. I have a feeling this will be a very different sounding album than Carrie and Lowell.

I’m expecting this one to be more electronic-based since C&L was acoustic. Plus, the album art kinda tips it in that direction, also.

Yeah, between the album art, songs length and album length, I’m expecting more Age of Adz than Carrie and Lowell. No matter the style, I imagine it will be good.

Odd that someone downvoted your post. What could anyone have found objectionable about it?

Age of Adz was pretty much a non starter for me, whereas Carrie and Lowell is a masterpiece. I’m definitely hoping for more of the latter, especially since he just released that electronic album with Lowell.

Carrie and Lowell is my favorite Sufjan album and a top 5 album of last decade, but I like Age of Adz a lot as welll.

Curious to hear America on Friday. The first single from an album often isn’t the 12 minute closing track.

It was probably chosen more for the context, as I expect it to be topical.

I love Age of Adz. For him to go from folk rock to Electronic, and do it well, was outstanding.

He seems to be trying different stuff on the last few albums, so I'm sure we will be surprised for what is to come.

Not sure what I think of the new song. Definitely sounds like a closer for an album.

If you didn’t like Age of Adz, you will likely hate this. It’s way more electronic and experimental. The last 5 minutes is just soundscapes.

Listened once. Going to need more listens. It kind of reminded me of what he did to the Carrie and Lowell songs live on the tour.

I'll wait for the rest of the album, but i like the sound of this song. Some of the lyrics felt forced and kinda cheesy.

Carrie and Lowell is my favorite album of the last decade. Illinois was the Sufjan standard for me previously. I’m hoping this one has the melodic genius of both. Adz isn’t my cup of tea comparatively .

I didnt like Adz until I saw it live. Then I "got it".

I do not understand the Sufjan Stevens love at all. What am I missing here?

Another new song out today - b side to America.

My Rajneesh

Sounds more like Age of Adz. Definitely some recycled sounds from that era. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is actually a b side of Age of Adz.

On one listen each, I think I like this one more than America. That Vesuvius callback is pretty cool.

That's what makes me think this was written along with the rest of Age of Adz.

I like it better as well.
