Who is the artist doing this cover on the Viagra commercial? The closest I can find is the Greatful Dead, but I believe it's later than 1971.

smokestack lightning is a song either by a revamped skynyrd or one of the van zandt's.

Not the cover I talking about. The original cover was by Howlin Wolf. The one I'm asking about is the one with the 69 Camero running hot. Like I said it could be Greatful Dead, but I don't think so.

lol, been trying all morning. All I'm coming up with is Viagra.
Here is the one by the Dead, but it isn't the one in the commercial, unless it's been redone. The Dead performed this song in 1971. LINK
Who ever is covering it the the Viagra commercial is awesome and I will purchase their work if I can find out who they are. Here is the cover I'm asking about. LINK

OldTigahFot, Thanks, I think that's the one. Although the one in the commercial is much, much cleaner than the one in your link, I'm sure they remastered it.
I listened to four or five covers by Howlin Wolf, but some how missed the one you provided. They were all good of course. Just not clean.
I was a big Yardbirds fan back in the sixties and never heard them cover Smokestack Lightin.
I suppose CD Universe will tell me if there are remastered albums available.

That cover is from a live concert. I think it features EC on the guitar.
The Howlin' Wolf cover is from an old 45 rpm recording, I think.

Here in Nth Fla., back in the 60s we listened to WAPE, the mighty 690, out of Jacksonville. I believe BR or NO, had the sister station. Anyway, around 7pm, they would cut their 50k watts down to something that couldn't be picked up just 45 miles south of them. That was a good thing, because we could pick up WLAC out of Gallitin, Tenn. That's where I learned to love the Blues.
