A Grand Ole Opry and country music staple "Little" Jimmy Dickens has passed away at age 94.

"May the bird of paradise fly up your nose" and "Life turned her that way" are two of my favorite all-time Honky Tonk songs.

"May The Bird Of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" -- a live performance on the Bobby Lord TV show in 1965

The guitar on the studio version is played by the legendary Nashville session man Grady Martin, best remembered for his distorted work on Johnny Burnette Trio - "Train Kept A Rollin'" in 1956.

"Shopping for Dresses" by Merle Haggard, which Dickens co-wrote, is a great song.

Gatemouth Brown paid tribute when he was living in Nashville in the 60's.

R.I.P. Tater. A friend told me a story last summer about Jimmy's first time watching K.D. Lang at the Opry & completely innocently saying something to the effect of "nice job, young fella" after her performance.
