Remembering the life of Vic Chesnutt on what would have been his 54th birthday.

Any Vic fans out there?
He brought a certain darkness through his music that I've always liked. Real heavy stuff. I think the quote says it best:
His musical style has been described by Bryan Carroll of allmusic.com as a "skewed, refracted version of Americana that is haunting, funny, poignant, and occasionally mystical, usually all at once".
Vic was influential and a frequent collaborator with Widespread Panic. Here is a recording and a link to the video from NYE 2001 at Phillips Arena Atlanta, GA: via Panicstream
Unfortunately, the darkness in his music came from the darkness of his life. Vic left this earth on Christmas Day 2009.
RIP Vic

Had a panic themed groomsmen cake (a stage with the boys up there)... we honored Vic by even having him up there in a little edible wheel chair.

Sad that I never caught a show with Vic sitting in, something I always hoped for.

...you're a guarded secret in a gov't house...
Just caught a smoking three night run in St. Aug. Damned glad to hear them do this Vic tune. Love the dark underbelly Panic brings upward to the light. Vic can RIP knowing his spirit lives with WSP.
