The ultimate dive bar song to me.

Can't remember where I read it, but there was an Rod Stewart article in a music mag back in the late 70s where he's describing an encounter he had with a gorgeous woman he picked out of a crowd at one of his shows. Long story short, he takes her back to his hotel room and discovers that she's a he. Rod tells him sorry, I don't swing that way, you can sleep on the couch but get the frick out of here when it's daylight.

I suddenly realized he was recounting the inspiration for "Stay With Me". Kinda ruined the song for me after that

"Yeah I'll pay your cab fare home, you can even use my best cologne..."
