I'll give a top 5, and frankly most of everything after Relayer is...eh not that great and not worth listening. especially not that 80s garbage

my top 5

1. Close to the Edge
2. Fragile
3. Relayer
4. Yes Album
5. Tales of Topographic Oceans

man the OG lineup with Burford, Squire, Howe, Wakeman, and Anderson is one of the most talented lineups of musicians you can assemble, and I would consider all albums listed as classic and essential prog rock albums, and must listens

outside of maybe Floyd and Genesis does it get any better than early to mid 70s Yes?

You can't go wrong with that list. Now get a lot of weed and a lot of patience and listen to "Tormoto".
Relayer shouldn't be on the list. Try hard with no harmonies

I'd replace Tales with Going For The One, which has two of their best songs, Awaken and Turn Of The Century. Tales has got maybe 20 minutes of good music interspersed amongst 80 minutes of wankery.

Yessongs of course has definitive versions of several of their songs, loud, aggressive, and fast tempos, basically the opposite of how they've played live for 20 years. It's startling how much they improved on the album versions of CTTE, YM/AGP, YIND, and Perpetual Change. Starship Trooper might also qualify, except Steve didn't switch to his Martin for the acoustic middle section. I've never heard a better version of Mood For A Day, or Clap on the video.

Love Yes, but my list may be a bit weird...

Relayer
The Yes Album
Close To The Edge
Fragile
Drama

As an aside, IMO the YesWest albums have aged incredibly well over time...

I got you dog. Relayer was never my favorite but at least you listened to that and all the rest. You are a Yes fan!
Did I tell you my cousin from Alabama changed his middle name to "Yes"?
Mom wasn't impressed. She's Scot Irish. Their not impressed by much.

Yes, but those songs were covered on the Yessongs album, so you get both Bill Bruford and Alan White.

Studio albums only:

1. Fragile-because it has 2 of my top 5 all time Yes songs-South Side of the Sky and Heart of the Sunrise and had the first appearance of Rick Wakeman.

2. The Yes Album-really the beginning of the true prog rock monsters that Yes would become with 4 great songs. Steve Howe joins the band + another top 5 track for me-Starship Trooper.

3. Close to the Edge. The third part of the classic Yes trilogy that includes the above two albums. Another top 5 cut-Siberian Khatru.

4. Going for the One. Wakeman reappears and the 5th of my favorite songs appears-Parallels.

5. Relayer. This is not something to listen to at work. It takes full concentration and attention to enjoy the intricacies of this album. The only album with Patrick Moraz.

6. Drama. An entirely new direction for the band name known as Yes with no Jon Anderson. This album really rocks.

7. Tales. In small doses.

Fragile
All three of these are masterpieces IMO

Everything else. I'll spin some of these albums occasionally, but not very often

Am I the only one who really digs 90125??

Cinema
Leave It
Changes
Owner of a Lonely Heart
It Can Happen

...come on now--show it some love!

As you all probably know, the 90125 name came from the ATCO catalog number--they couldn't come up with a name so just decided to use that.

Interestingly, catalog #90126 is the self titled "Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, & Howe"--a friggin fantastic album released in 1989. They used the next number in the catalog as kind of an "eff you" to Chris Squire over the ownership battle of the Yes name...sort of "see, this is the next in line--it's still a Yes album--even if we can't use the name"
