Hawaiian music took the country by storm in the 1920s, thanks to Island musicians playing the mainland vaudeville circuit. Its influence on both blues (bottleneck) and country (steel guitar) would be immense.
The most popular Hawaiian guitarist was Sol Hoopii.
Note he covers the song we now know as "Stagger Lee"
In later life he became an evangelist

Although Columbia had switched to selling only flat records by 1912, here in 1914 Edison is still selling cylinders. Edison always seemed to back the wrong format.
