quote:

The Cyrkle is an American pop-rock band best known for their 1966 hits "Red Rubber Ball" and "Turn-Down Day". Originally a "frat rock" group called The Rhondells, they were discovered by Beatles manager Brian Epstein, who renamed them after a roundabout in Easton, Pennsylvania. John Lennon famously provided the unique "Cyrkle" spelling.

Managed by Brian Epstein, the band opened for The Beatles on 14 dates during their final US tour in 1966, including their last ticketed concert at Candlestick Park.

"Red Rubber Ball" (1966): Co-written by Paul Simon and Bruce Woodley, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jingle Success: After disbanding in 1968, core members Tom Dawes and Don Dannemann became highly successful jingle writers:

Dawes wrote the famous "Plop plop, fizz fizz" jingle for Alka-Seltzer.
Dannemann wrote the original 7-Up "Uncola" theme and jingles for Continental Airlines and Swanson Foods.

Repositioning after their classic sike hit "Just Dropped In"

quote:

This full-page trade advertisement from Reprise Records, dated November 1969, playfully contrasts Kenny Rogers & The First Edition's mainstream country appeal with underground rock stereotypes. It promotes the album Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town (Reprise RS 6345), featuring the hit single "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" (written by Mel Tillis, recorded in one take in August 1969), which peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #39 on the Country chart. The ad highlights Rogers' "good voices, good songs, million-selling records" over "mystique" or "hip image," positioning the group as commercial hits akin to Reuben James amid hippie backlash against acts like Hendrix or Clapton.
