32 years ago yesterday, they did Wilson, Alumni Blues and Harry Hood!

Crazy to see them so young...

I remember seeing DMB at a frat party in early 90's and wondering why this muppet sounding idiot dancing like a retard has any fanbase whatsoever.

Swing and a miss on that one.

Did you try looking behind him at some of the more talented musicians on earth in the pop world?

No more talented than Usher's backup band or any of those big band R&B groups who toured same circuit. They were all insanely talented.

And yes, I consider DMB backup band/music more R&B vs pop, although with Dave they did carve out a little piece in the pop world.

You consider the Dave Matthews band back up band to be what now?

They're jazz musicians mostly aside from Stefan and Boyd out of tunesly.

They're pop music as was Sinatra. And would have probably gathered a huge following, maybe not at the size they are now, regardless of where they started. The frat scene and music sharing was vital.

I consider them very much a hybrid between R&B with some jazz rock fusion influences. Not a bad thing.
