How do you order your effects in the chain? Don’t care about effects loops because I don’t use one. Curious about thoughts on what effect types should be placed in what order.

Here is what I’m setting up:
Tuner>
Boss OC-5 (octave)>
Bassballs (filter/autowah)>
More (tube gain boost/tone magic)>
Bass Clone (chorus)>
Underground Accelerator (preamp for clean)>
YYZ (preamp for dirty/grindy/driven)>
Finally (tube DI)>

Thoughts?

I would move my chorus after the pre-amp, but that’s just me. Everything else about the order seems rightish on paper.

You can always try reordering your drives as the sequencing of them can change tone dramatically.

Thanks Bob. I’ll try that out.

When I put together a board, it usually goes:
Tuner
EQ
Pitch shifters
Wah
Drives
Phase/flange/chorus/univibe
Delays
Reverbs
DI’s/cab sims

Tried the chorus last in chain before the DI at my gigs Saturday and it worked well.

Have more experimenting to do, but running the octaver and filter into the drives and chorus, you can get some awesome sounds. Almost sounded like a bass synth.

My current, and usual order, is Wah, gain, higher gain, boost, phaser/uni vibe (I alternate, though someone told me to put the univibe at the front, before the wah so I may do that in some upcoming shows) chorus, delay then amp. Actually I am trying out running the chorus and delay into the effects loop of the amp. I haven't ever really done that before so I hope it goes ok! But that is my usual order. Sometimes I through an EQ after the boost and before the phaser/chorus/delay. I usually use the reverb on the amp.
