The semi-serious war of words between Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and Justin Bieber has heated up on Twitter, with countless fans of the pop star directing their white-hot outrage at Carney via tweet.

To recap, this mini-nano-controversy began when a TMZ reporter cornered Carney after the Grammys and asked the drummer, for reasons that remain unclear, about Bieber's exclusion from the awards. Carney's response: "I dunno, he's rich, right? Grammys are for, like, music, not for money. . . . He's making a lot of money. He should be happy."

Bieber promptly struck back on Twitter: "the black keys drummer should be slapped around haha." His legions of ardent fans took this as their cue to attack Carney with zillions of enraged tweets. The Keys drummer, to his credit, chose to meet their fury with utter equanimity and, at most, a little deadpan humor.
