I like it much more after a few listens than I did at first.

I hate the Dance-Off song. Other than that, it's a pretty strong followup to one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life (The Heist).

Any opinions or is Macklemore too mainstream for this board?

Macklemore is not only too mainstream, but he's probably one of the worst mainstream "artists" there is. That is not music.

I was the same way.

I do too but go check out some of Macklemore's early videos. It's basically 80s style dance videos

It's basically the same as the Heist. I like it but in doses. Thrift Store was much more of a jam than Downtown...which I find just too all over the place.

All in all, good stuff.

Rap needs to be more positive and socially conscious and not deliver such negative messages.

Rapper does that.

Rapper gets ripped by critics and populace alike.

I'll give credit where it's due.

I was just exposed to "Thrift Shop" like two weeks ago. It's not usually my kind of music, but I think it's genius. And the video is straight up hysterical. that said, I probably won't check out anything else he's done because I don't want to be disappointed.
