"Ol' Red" by: Blake Shelton Question

Why did he have to go through the elaborate plan of penning up a female hound, so the blood houd from the prison would be distracted? He takes the male down there for a couple of visits leading up to the escape so they get to know each other and he knows where she is at.

Well, if he was the dog walker, why didn't he just run/escape with the male dog in the first place? If he takes the dog with him, they have no way to track him.

I assume he had a set amount of time to walk the dog. The guards would have been on to him quickly. This way gave him all night to get out of town.


...and if he just killed Ol' Red, well that wouldn't make a pretty country song.
