Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now

I gotta admit, I love 80's pop music. Some people may think a lot of it is ultra-cheesy, but I feel drawn to it. I love the sound of synthesizers and the way these songs were produced.
One particular song that has been stuck in my head today is "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship. Grace Slick, from the original Jefferson Airplane, duets with Mickey Thomas on vocals, and it really is a catchy 80's tune. Here's the link to the song

Weird. "Love Will Lead You Back" by Taylor Dayne has been in my head all day. Popped in there as soon as I woke up.
Eta: upon further review, the song was released in January of 1990. Almost an 80's jam

That's a good tune, I like that one as well. Lol I think anything released in 1990 was an extension of 80's music, I think the 90's sound really came about in 1991. Nirvana really changed the whole music scene when they released Nevermind in 91'.
I think each decade was stamped by a particular genre of rock. The 50's were rockabilly. The 60's were psychedelic. The 70's were AOR (album oriented rock). The 80's were pop rock. The 90's were grunge/alternative rock. The 2000's were considered "post grunge/post alternative" a genre that was spearheaded by the likes of Creed and Nickelback.
It's interesting how each decade had its own unique sound based upon the nation's cultural identity during each decade.

Wow. That is an awful song. I always cite it as being worse than "We Built This City" when the inevitable "What's the worst song ever written?" discussion comes up.
I've honestly never heard anybody admit to liking that song till now. First time for everything I guess.

80's were defined by cheesy music. I like a lot of those songs that make people cringe today. The videos added to the cheesiness.

Come on man, it really is a catchy song. The verse is great, the chorus is melodic and Grace Slick hits the high notes with precision. She was the lead singer in Jefferson Airplane, one of the great classic rock bands. The song is one that is very accessible and I don't see why anyone would think it's an awful song.
It is much better than a lot of the so called "music" that's put out today, you have to at least give it that.

I'm amazed that the same band that produced that awful tripe gave us this killer tune just a few years before that. Stranger

I like it too. And it's definitely not worse than "We Built This City."
