Yeah, it's a fun song.
Seems like most of the reviews pouring in now are pretty lukewarm, but I'm still excited to hear it on Friday. Most AC fans on Reddit that listened to the leak seem to think it is really good.

Well, the Pitchfork review is what it is. I don't put a lot of merit into their reviews. If the album is anything like the rest of the songs released, it will be great.

Yeah, that review almost read like someone was purposely doing a parody of Pitchfork.
The current 71 metacritic isn't super encouraging, but like you said I'm not really too worried about it. I've really liked the songs released so far. Centipede Hz got middling reviews and I was still a big fan. Strawberry Jam did as well and it's probably my favorite AC release.

Review is cringe worthy. Someone on another forum I post at pointed out the douchiness of this part of the review:
"I, for example, remember being in the basement of a sushi restaurant in Charlottesville, Virginia, watching Feels before anyone knew it existed, or wading through Webster Hall to a gorgeous, slowly dawning song they later called "Banshee Beat."
This is at least on par with Centipede, if not better.

He originally said it was Sung Tongs instead of Feels as well. Avey Tare corrected him and it appears he fixed it.

The guy has got to be trolling, right? It reads like an Onion article making fun of pitchfork.

Pitchfork gonna Pitchfork.

Golden Gal is growing on me more and more. FloriDada is probably my favorite single so far, but it's getting close. Friday can't get here soon enough.

I'm sure I will love all the Panda Bear songs on there at least. I like Golden Gal a ton better than Floridada.

Honestly,
I remember when Merriweather came out and all the hipsters were bitching about how AC was "selling out" and how it was too pop. Now people see it as the high point in their career.

I thought Golden Gal was an Avey track. I could be wrong though. I know Lying in the Grass was Panda.

You are right. The melody sounds more like a typical Panda Bear song but now that I listen closer it is Avey singing. I like the song.

Because it was IMHO. I like Strawberry Jam, but Merriwether is by far their most focused, consistent effort.
That said, I'm really looking forward to this new one based off the three singles I've listened to. Like others have said, I love Floridada more and more every time I listen. Such a fun song.

I've given it a listen and a half this morning while getting ready for work. The album starts off pretty strong. Love Floridada as an opening track, and Hocus Pocus is pretty great too. Vertical is chill...I like it. The next 3 tracks I'm not so sure about. Bagels in the Sky and On Delay are fun. Golden Gal is awesome. Recycling seemed like kind of a weak closer to the album, but like I said, I need to give this a few more listens.
So far, I think I like it better that Centipede Hz. They've taken their music in a different direction for sure, and that's fine with me. I don't think it's as good as Strawberry Jam or Merriweather, but it's a solid effort from them.

Nothing will top Strawberry Jam.
On my second listen now. Don't want to speak too soon. Still absorbing...
