Amazing documentary and very educational for me.

Yep, great documentary - I grew up in Huntsville in the late 60s/early 70s, played in a rock band, hung out w/fellow musicians, went to all of the local concerts and had no idea what was happening there...and I read the Huntsville and Birmingham newspapers cover-to-cover every day - no coverage.

And to have that glass medicine bottle that was used as a slide would be priceless

Devon Allman has one of the original bottles that he actually used, Duane wrote the Coricidin company and told them what he was using their bottles for, and they sent him a couple of dozen, but there were apparently only 3 that he liked the sound of.

I watched this a few days ago:
Gene Clark (1944-1991) was a founding member of The Byrds, a superb songwriter who helped establish country-rock in the late '60s, both as a solo artist and as a member of Dillard and Clark.
This documentary dwells on Clark's troubled personal life as much as his music. It has some flaws: there is much too much heard from David Crosby, who had little to do with Clark after the latter left The Byrds; unless I blinked and missed it it did not discuss Clark briefly returning to The Byrds for a few weeks in late 1967, and didn't show the clip of Clark lip-synching "Goin' Back" with the band on The Smothers Brothers Show; also it didn't show the extant video of Clark singing his great ballad "Hear The Wind" (there may have been rights issues involved in the latter two cases).
A perceptive review of the film:

For those new to Gene Clark:
His classic 1968 album with Doug Dillard, The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark, was a pioneering effort in the genre of country-rock.
Dillard & Clark - "There's A Train Leaves Here This Morning"
Dillard & Clark - "Why Not Your Baby"
Dillard & Clark - "Don't Let Me Down" Great Beatles cover
But The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark didn't sell, nor did Clark's solo albums of the 1970s, despite frequent moments of brilliance.
Gene Clark - "Spanish Guitar" Supposedly Bob Dylan told GC he "would have been proud to write this song"
Gene Clark - "Some Misunderstanding"
Live video of a later classic:
Gene Clark - "Hear the Wind"

If you haven't seen the "Muscle Shoals" documentary on Netflix, you have to watch it.
It blew my mind. It was that good. I'm sure it's already been discussed but sing the lyrics to "Sweet Home Alabama" in your head. The title of the documentary is in there somewhere........
