Are there any players out there. Just wanted to see if there is any discussion to be found. The dulcimer a great stress reliever. Been playing for 12 years. I self taught myself. If you have any musical talent, it is a plus.

My deceased aunt bought a few over the years. My uncle wants me to come by and take one. I've been blessed to have a musical knack for instruments and harmony. It seems like a peaceful instrument to get into.

It's great. Especially if you can master the Irish jigs. I cant read music so I rely on tablature playing (play by numbered strings). These tabs can be found free all over the web. I do a music show for 3rd graders. Slow irish airs didn't work so well with kids so I had no choice but to learn the jigs.

I dont know much about them but it seems to be a pretty big deal in the Ozarks.
The town I moved to has a shop that builds them.

I bought mine at the Dulcimer Shop in Mountain View Ark. Mcspadens are made there. Different woods create different tones. Test your ears when buying. Dulcimers are addictive and you probably will end up with more than 1 with different woods.
