Just caught this last night and curious about some of you guys take on it. Admittedly, im not a metal guy or know much about the band other than a few of the major known facts. But the acting performances were super awkward and creepy lol But maybe that was intentional idk
What major facts did they get wrong or exclude? Ive read a few quick reviews and alot of people seem to take issue with it. I watched a video review from Varg and he dismisses it as a bunch of lies and seems to take particular exception with being played by a "fat jewish boy"

I'm not gonna waste my time watching it. If you want to know the real story check out the documentary Until the Light Takes Us. Here it is on youtube LINK Varg has several youtube on both the movie and some older ones on black metal history that cover this topic. Watch those as well.
Oh and he's quite the troll.

Varg is one of the biggest trolls I have ever seen.
It quite amazing actually, i love Norwegian and swedish black metal history. I dont care for this biopic. Just going to misdirect truth.

A rolling stone review i read said it clings to the truth about as loosely as Bohemian Rhapsody did
eta. For instance it made zero mention that there were two singers before Dead came along

Varg's videos are obviously one sided but at least he was directly involved in these events. The guy who wrote the book Lords of Chaos and the director of the movie have no insider knowledge of the events. I know in the movie they say Euronymous has a girlfriend, which isn't true. The movie character doesn't exist irl. Varg basically says he was gay in one of his recent videos. He also goes into gory detail about stabbing him in the head. That was pretty cool.

I dont know, its like..when you're protective about a genre because you love it and are in ways invested..you know the history and you just hate seeing things dumb down for mass appeals.
Which doesnt make sense to me, truth is always better if it is interesting to begin with. Was interesting for a reason.
