The Melvins have a handful of songs that I REALLY like (probably their most popular ones), but the rest of the stuff I've heard bores the hell out of me. I understand that they are pioneers and have influenced many of my favorite bands through the years, but maybe I just don't get it.

Can anyone recommend records/songs that sound more like the Houdini album, Revolve, A History of Bad Men, Sweet Willy Rollbar?

I've been trying to weed through their extensive catalog, but coming up empty handed. Gave the entire Stoner Witch album another round today, but to no real avail other than the above mentioned songs. I probably listen to Houdini in it's entirety once a week.

... and their Hellfest 2011 performance was insanely good.

Houdini and Stoner Witch are their best. I really like The Crybaby but that's all covers. Tres Cabrones is really good too. I saw them on The Melvins Lite tour with Trevor Dunn on standup bass. It was a great performance. They put out Freak Puke with that lineup. They had a really solid run in the early 2010s.

I'm gonna give Tres Cabrones a listen tonight. I plan on catching them early April with Napalm Death. Looking at some set lists from late last year, the list looks kind of meh to me. However, once again, I'm far from a hardcore fan so I'm sure it appeals to them.

I want that Hellfest set list, complete with the dual drummers!
