My nephew is headed to Berklee in the fall. A laptop loaded with Pro Tools is mandatory.
Which MacBook Pro should I purchase for him?
BTW, he has an older MacBook now but it’s slow and he has issues with being able to finish assignments in a timely fashion. I want something that can keep up with him as he’s editing.

Personally, I would get the fastest MacBook with the largest screen that one can afford. The 14in starts at $1700, the 16in starts at $2700. I cannot image editing anything on even a 16in screen but thats me.
The RAM is where they will get you. To even get 64GB in the 14in you have to upgrade the processor and together both will run minimum $3k (vs a 32GB machine being $2100). The 16in comes with an upgraded processor so that will be $3300. Making the difference in price only $300 for the extra scree real estate. If thats in the budget, that's where Id probably land.
They all come with minimum 1TB SSD so that should be fine.
There also Apple Certified Refurbs which will cost less.
