What's memorable about it and the Intro really have nothing to do with Reed.
I prefer the Velvets' "SJ", specifically the "Heavenly Wine and Roses" version on "'69 Live". Essentially I consider them pretty much two different songs.

One of my favorite albums of all time. Prakash John's bass playing is spot on. Heroin is so good, but the intro/Sweet Jane track is the best.
