parrot, I am saying I like Steely Dan, too. I never thought I would, but at some point along the way I got a greatest hits CD, and I have come to appreciate the music.

It's hard to explain why, though.

It's a good thing I didn't mention Joplin and Hendrix (solo artists).

I've seen 7 of those, but you are the master...

You have to remember, I grew up in the heyday of those bands. I saw people like Johnny Winter and Eric Burdon in the small clubs. Hell, saw Brownsville Station (original version of Smokin' in the Boys' Room) and MC5 (Kick out the Jams) in a club called the Speakeasy, right across the street from BR Beach on Stanford.

It was truly a great time to be young.

Outside of a select few bands that I really love, I am much more of a solo artist kinda guy, but:

Allman Brothers Band
Jimi Hendrix Experience
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble (is this acceptable?)
Dire Straits
Cream
The Rolling Stones
The Band

Cool...I caught many in their "later years". As I tell my teenage boys when they make fun of me for being old, "At least I saw all the cool bands".

Wow, it's good to know I'm not quite the oldest person on this forum.
