Because I just advanced a straightforward and compelling argument.

No you didn't. You failed.

I've never heard anyone else claim this, it's hilarious.

Why does one band always have to be responsible for creating a genre, revolutionizing music, creating Rock, etc etc.?

The Beatles were a very influential band. So were Led Zeppelin. But anyone who's played music before will tell you that they're often part of a scene in which bands compliment and influence each other. I suspect this was no different in the 50s-60s.

Frank Sinatra and Elvis were "rock stars"
Elvis, okay...Old Blue Eyes? Rock? Seriously? What rock sings did Frank play? Calling Sinatra a rock star is a stretch. Dean Martin and Joey Bishop aren't rock stars either.

Pop music does not exist as it does today without the Beatles. But I don't think the concept of the Rock Star as we know it exists without Led Zeppelin. It's a subtle difference in the argument, and what the column is getting at.

The Beatles wrote this song for the White Album in 1968 called Helter Skelter. OP needs to look it up.
